Fire safety and ease of doing business in SL dominated weekly government press briefing
News - Society

The message that came out of the weekly government press briefing held at Youyi Building on Thursday Feb 4 is that Sierra Leone is open for business and it is easy to open a business in Sierra Leone.

According to Ms. Michaela McKay chief of the Corporate Affairs Commission, the days when businesses faced obstacles and had to pay bribes to incorporate are over. Transparency and accountability are the new bywords that govern the new commission that has taken over the duties of the old Registry on Walpole Street.

But businesses need a secure environment to thrive, so Ms. McKay was joined by Chief Kamanda-Bongay of the Sierra Leone Fire Force who spoke of fire safety and the challenges faced by firefighters in Sierra Leone.

Government Spokesman Abdulai Baratay gave an update on government activities during the past week. Deputy Minister of Information Theo Nicol chaired and Deputy Government Spokesman Ajibu Jalloh opened the proceedings.

A podcast of the press briefing is at sierraleone365 radio on the tunein app.
