The controversy surrounding Senior Presidential Adviser Ibrahim Ben Kargbo, Republican Presidential Candidate Donald Trump and the debate about whether President Ernest B. Koroma term of office should be extended were some of the topics discussed at the weekly press briefing by the Sierra Leone Government on Thursday January 14.

Deputy Minister of Information Theo Nichols and Government Spokesman Abdulai Baraytay presided over the proceedings when their invited guests failed to show up. Both stressed the democratic nature of the "more time" debate going on in Sierra Leone, noting that nobody has been prevented from expressing their opinions, pro or con. They also disclosed that I B Kargbo, embroiled in a controversy regarding the importation of trash from Lebanon will resign his role as adviser to President Koroma once he is sworn in as a Member of Parliament today.
